Game Art Cost Calculator for AA & AAA Production

Get a free, fast and realistic estimate for professional 2D game art, including concept art, character and environment design, visual development, key art, Steam capsule art, UI, logos, animation and illustration.

We decided to make our pricing as transparent as possible. The calculator is based on our current production rates, real project experience and realistic industry workloads - giving developers, studios and publishers a practical benchmark before requesting a detailed quotation.

Your estimate is based on:

  • Selected art services

  • Number of assets

  • Estimated Artist Days

  • Production scope and complexity

  • Project scale

  • Required production coordination

For board games, books and publishing projects, the calculator also includes guidance around usage rights and participation models, which can otherwise be difficult to compare and budget for.

Transparent pricing based on real production effort

Game art pricing is rarely as simple as one asset = one price. Visual complexity, art direction, production requirements, feedback and timelines can all influence the actual workload.

We built this calculator to make that process more transparent.

The estimates are based on our current rates, typical Artist Days and real production experience. Our goal is to provide realistic professional game art pricing rather than artificially low starting prices.

The result is still a preliminary estimate. Final pricing may change after we review your brief, references, existing artwork and technical requirements.

Help us improve it

We want this calculator to be genuinely useful for developers, artists, studios and publishers.

If something is unclear, a service is missing, you disagree with an estimate or you have an idea for a useful feature, please let us know. Feedback and criticism are explicitly welcome.

Game Art Pricing Based on Production Effort

The cost of professional game art depends on more than the number of final illustrations.

Visual complexity, art style, level of finish, existing art direction, technical requirements, feedback structure and production schedule can all influence the amount of work required.

Our calculator uses estimated Artist Days and our current game art production rates to provide a practical starting point for your budget.

It can be used to estimate the cost of individual assets as well as larger outsourced game art productions.

Game Art Services You Can Estimate

The calculator covers a range of game art and illustration services, including:

  • visual development and art direction

  • character and creature design

  • environment concept art

  • props, weapons and game assets

  • key art and marketing illustration

  • Steam capsule art and store assets

  • game UI and graphic design

  • game logos and visual identity

  • board game illustration

  • book and cover illustration

For larger projects, quantities can be entered separately to estimate the overall scope and production effort.

What Does Game Art Outsourcing Cost?

Game art outsourcing costs vary significantly depending on the required quality, complexity and production volume.

A single prop design may require only a small number of Artist Days, while a complete visual-development phase, character lineup, environment package or marketing campaign can involve several artists working across multiple weeks.

The calculator provides an initial estimate based on the project information you select. Final pricing may change after KRASS KOLLEKTIV has reviewed your briefing, references, existing assets and technical requirements.

Estimated Production Time

Alongside the projected game art cost, the calculator provides an approximate number of Artist Days and an estimated production duration.

KRASS KOLLEKTIV can typically plan suitable productions with teams of up to 5–10 artists, depending on the required disciplines and project structure. Additional capacity may be arranged for suitable larger, accelerated or long-term productions.

The displayed duration refers to the estimated production period after an agreed project start.

Project start depends on current studio availability. Generating or submitting an estimate does not reserve a production slot.

Preliminary Project Cost Estimate

The generated PDF is a customer-configured preliminary project cost estimate.

It is intended solely as an initial indication of potential production costs and has not yet been reviewed or approved by KRASS KOLLEKTIV.

It does not constitute a binding quotation, contractual offer, project booking or reservation of production capacity.

Final scope, pricing, production duration, availability, taxes, payment terms and contractual conditions remain subject to individual review and written approval by KRASS KOLLEKTIV.
